What the school inspection says

The school was graded good in 2014. Estyn no longer issues overall school ratings, but the 2023 inspection said: “Ysgol Eirias is a caring and inclusive community which provides a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Pupils’ emotional health and wellbeing is a key priority. Most pupils feel safe at school. Teaching is effective in many instances and this ensures that pupils make secure progress in their subject skills and knowledge. However, teachers’ feedback to pupils is not precise enough and, too often, this does not support improvement in their work. The curriculum builds well on pupils’ prior learning and there is a wide range of courses available.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.
