- Wyedean School, on the English-Welsh border, accepts pupils from both England and Wales. It is a mixed comprehensive with approximately 1,100 pupils on roll.
- The school’s “Wyedean Way” values “the highest standards of conduct and academic achievement” in its school community “alongside the development of caring, principled, reflective, inquisitive and creative critical thinkers”.
- Sixth-formers can access 36 different qualifications for study across A-levels, BTecs and WJEC extended and applied diplomas. Pre-university short courses are also offered for students interested in specific areas of study, including law, medicine, veterinary science and dentistry and Stem. The school’s Stem coordinator has developed a project with Dyson to “stretch the students’ skills of resilience, problem-solving and communication”.
- The author JK Rowling was head girl at Wyedean in 1982, and the library was dedicated to her in 2006.
