- Wren Academy opened as a CofE secondary school in 2008 before expanding to include primary-aged pupils in 2015.
- Students belong to one of six houses for the entirety of their school journey and participate in inter-house competitions during the year, including a singing contest, marble-run competition and athletics day.
- The school offers about 120 places in year 7. Parents of Wren Academy primary pupils do not need to apply for a place.
- English, maths and science are taught in single-sex groups from year 7 upwards. The school says this policy gives “all the benefits of single-sex education in a mixed school”.
- Extended days, running until 4pm on Tuesdays, give pupils time to prioritise enrichment sessions in areas of interest such as 3D printing, coding, news reporting, gospel choir, sports, first aid and drama.
