“The aim is for all pupils to achieve their full potential in every sphere ... Pupils throughout the school are lively and inquisitive learners .... They are highly articulate in debate and discussion, in lessons and in all areas of school life ... Pupils’ successes and achievements in a very wide range of extracurricular activities are outstanding … Self-understanding is excellent … Pupils speak purposefully about their ambitions and recognise the need to work hard in order to achieve as highly as possible ... Pupils have a clear sense of morality and a strong sense of community which is shaped by their commitment to the school’s values.” There was a short visit in 2022.

  • Withington Girls’ School, in Manchester, has the Eco-Schools Green Flag international accreditation, which recognises pupils’ exceptional work in promoting sustainability and raising environmental awareness.
  • Music ensembles, sports clubs, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, Model UN and the student newsletter are among the huge selection of extracurricular activities on offer. School trips range from fieldwork, museum and theatre visits to weekend residentials, foreign exchanges, sports tours and cultural trips. 
  • Pupils are monitored and supported by form tutors, shadow form tutors, heads of year and sixth-form peer supporters.
  • One in six senior-school students is supported by a means-tested bursary. The equivalent of 4 per cent of fee income each year is donated to the WGS Trust for bursary provision.
