- The Winterbourne Academy was founded in 1957 as the Ridings High School and educates both girls and boys. There are almost 1,800 pupils on roll.
- The enrichment programme offers activities for all pupils to become involved in, covering sports, culture, wellbeing and Stem. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is offered, as are music lessons.
- The sixth form is offered collaboratively between three centres, of which Winterbourne is one. In 2025, 25 per cent of A-level grades achieved were A*-A and 52 per cent were A*-B.
- The school runs a “reading passport” scheme to encourage pupils from year 7 to 13 to enjoy literature. It is expected that pupils will read a minimum of five books a year.
