About the school

  • Winchester College is a boys’ boarding and day school in Hampshire with a co-ed sixth form. It runs a community service programme through which 400 pupils and 50 dons dedicate 20,000 hours of the year to voluntary work.
  • Students have a huge choice of extracurricular activities, clubs, and societies, including more than 30 sports, a symphony orchestra and a Glee club singing group. Most pupils take part in either community service or the Combined Cadet Force.
  • A dedicated entrepreneurship and innovation hub, Makyth Ventures, helps to equip pupils to bring bold business ideas to life.
  • The housemaster takes primary responsibility for the pastoral care of every pupil in his house, from their mental and physical health to their academic and extracurricular profile. The school also runs an extensive PSHE programme with regular speakers.
  • Bursaries are means-tested and worth up to 100 per cent of fees, with additional support for trips, books and equipment. The Wykeham Award, which can cover up to 100 per cent of school fees and associated costs, is for pupils who join the sixth form from a state school. Music and sports scholarships cover free tuition, coaching and training.
