“It seeks to inspire and nurture its pupils morally, spiritually, intellectually, physical and socially, building on their individual strengths and helping them grow into well-rounded young men ... Pupils of all ages demonstrate the successful fulfilment of the school’s aims, showing energy and enthusiasm in their personal drive for success … Pupils’ achievements in external competitions and in gaining other academic distinctions, and their success in sport, music, drama and the arts are exceptional ... Pupils of all ages are extremely self-confident without being overbearing ... The presence of an overseas boarding population encourages all members of the school community to be sensitive and tolerant.” There was a regulatory compliance visit in 2022.

About the school

  • Warwick School is the oldest boys’ school in England. Guided by the motto Altiora Peto, “I seek higher things”, it aims to develop young men of character. The motorsport executive Christian Horner is an alumnus. 
  • A wide range of sports is offered alongside a rich arts and music programme. There are 90 additional interest groups, from gardening club to Dungeons & Dragons meets.
  • Boys are supported through the wellbeing hub and can access care professionals at any time of the school day. They are encouraged to explore their feelings and learn how to work through them positively.
  • IGCSEs are an option and Year 8 pupils study for the Warwick Design Thinking Award, a course designed with the support of the Warwick University Business School professor Dr Bo Kelestyn.
  • Academic scholarships tend to cover as much as 20 per cent of school fees. Free or discounted places are available through the Warwick Schools Foundation, based on financial need.
