- Waldegrave School was formed in 1980 by the merger of two girls' schools — Twickenham and Kneller — and has a coeducational sixth form.
- Stem subjects continue to be a strong suit at the school, a former specialist science college.
- “Enjoy, achieve and empower” are the values underpinning a broad and demanding curriculum and stimulating enrichment programme. About three quarters of students in Year 9-11 complete their bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and a significant number go on to the next level. Everyone takes part in charity work through house or whole-school campaigns.
- Popular sports include rugby football, netball, rounders, athletics and cross-country. Music tuition and after-school Spanish or German classes are available.
- Alumni include the former Labour MP Caroline Flint and Jasmine Whitbread, the businesswoman and former head of Save the Children. The school’s range of buildings — dating from the 1920s and 1960s-70s with many modern additions — have been the location for films including Shirley Valentine (1989) and Before I Go to Sleep (2014).
