“The school’s aim is to achieve academic excellence and to encourage pupils to think critically and independently. The full-boarding environment is intended to provide pupils with an inspiring and all-round education in which each pupil feels valued and nurtured ... Pupils achieve excellent outcomes through their academic enrichment and the extensive extracurricular opportunities provided … Pupils’ attitudes to learning are extremely positive … Pupils have a markedly strong moral compass. They … show high levels of self-awareness ... Pupils value the freedom to make their own decisions, and appreciate a graduated series of guidelines which provide them with increasing levels of autonomy as they mature.” There was a regulatory compliance visit in 2021.

About the school

  • Uppingham Vietnam and Uppingham Cairo opened in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The holistic educational experience that is valued at the UK school will be at the heart of the overseas offshoots.
  • As a community, the pupils have overcome the challenges and disruptions to their formative years, particularly within the context of education, to achieve brilliant outcomes.
  • The enrichment programme offers a range of clubs and societies, including climbing, film-making, robotics and product creation.
  • The Friday afternoon Upp & Out initiative includes community service, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, Combined Cadet Force and a scholars’ programme.
  • The school values self-care and teaches pupils to share a collective responsibility for each other’s wellbeing. Students have the opportunity to develop life skills such as first aid, cooking and financial education.
