- Uckfield refers to itself as a “super-curricular college” because all students take part in at least one extra activity at lunchtime or after school and have the chance to work towards additional awards and qualifications. Choices include an astronomy society, an Italian club, the mathletes and a robotics group.
- The school newspaper, The Martlett, is run by students and publishes at least three online editions each academic year.
- In the eco-friendly garden pupils help to look after chickens and tend to wildlife-friendly ponds and wildflower areas, as well as learn how to grow, harvest and preserve fruits and vegetables.
- The sports facilities rival those of many private schools. They include a 25m swimming pool, large fitness suite, 3G all-weather pitch, artificial cricket pitch, two sports halls and outdoor basketball courts.
- High-achievers can take additional GCSEs in further maths, computer science and engineering. Support includes trips such as a visit to Nasa, and participation in a Global Scholars Pathway programme and the University of Cambridge’s Inspire Programme.
