- Founded in 1904, the school moved to its modern site in 1983. In the sixth form, students have the choice of taking A-levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB). Girls can apply for an IB place and the sixth-form common room is shared with the girls’ grammar
- Numerous clubs and societies cater for a wide range of extracurricular interests, spanning music, the arts, sport and other interests. Outdoor adventures on Dartmoor or the coast are within easy reach.
- The school has its own astronomical observatory, which is regularly open to the public.
- The Oxford professor and co-presenter of the BBC’s The Sky at Night Chris Lintott is a former pupil.
