“Leaders have created an ambitious and purposeful environment. They set high expectations for pupils to achieve well ... Pupils are respectful and polite to staff. [Their] conduct, at social times and when moving around the school, is orderly ... Teachers have strong subject expertise that they enjoy sharing … They know their pupils well. About the school

Founded in 1904, the school moved to its modern site in 1983. In the sixth form, students have the choice of taking A-levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB). Girls can apply for an IB place and the sixth-form common room is shared with the girls’ grammar
Numerous clubs and societies cater for a wide range of extracurricular interests, spanning music, the arts, sport and other interests. Outdoor adventures on Dartmoor or the coast are within easy reach.
The school has its own astronomical observatory, which is regularly open to the public.
The Oxford professor and co-presenter of the BBC’s The Sky at Night Chris Lintott is a former pupil.
