- The school was founded in 1880, along with its sister school for girls. It moved to its current site in 1929 and converted to an academy in 2011.
- Additions to the school since 2020 include a sports hall extension and an expanded Learning Resource Centre.
- The eight school houses are Churchill-Gordon, Darwin-Wilberforce, Drake, Kingsley-Montgomery, Livingstone, Raleigh, Scott and Turing-Nightingale
- Rugby, football and cricket are played at Grist’s, the school’s sports grounds in East Molesey.
- The actor Jonny Lee Miller and former England cricket captain Alec Stewart are Old Tiffinians.
