- The school, together with the boys’ school of the same name, was founded in 1880 with a charitable fund originating from the wills of the brothers Thomas and John Tiffin, who were local brewers.
- The Rivermead Building, opened in February 2020, includes a design technology suite and drama studio, and a new sports centre opened at the start of the 2022-23 academic year.
- The school motto is taken from Horace: Sapere aude (“Dare to be wise”).
- The Tiffin Girls’ Music Society is a charity, set up by parents, with the aim of supporting the quality and breadth of music provision at the school. Students are able to join and lead numerous orchestras, choirs, classical and contemporary ensembles.
- Groups with which students can get involved include Harry Potter Club, Origami Club, Secret Kindness Club, Wimbledon Ball Girl Training, Mythology Club and Model United Nations.
- Past pupils include the broadcaster Sophy Ridge and the author and punctuation guru Lynne Truss.
