- All-through day school the King’s School in Macclesfield can trace its roots back to 1502.
- Its 80-acre site is home to a recital hall and swimming pool as well as the school’s own wildlife areas and beehives. The school has planted more than 1,000 trees since 2020, including two orchards, and installed rooftop solar panels to power the sports centre as part of its sustainability agenda. Pupils are encouraged to spend time outside, with activities including climbing and sailing offered.
- The school prides itself on being “emotionally healthy” and it strives for pastoral excellence and emotional wellbeing for all; year 11 and sixth-form students mentor younger pupils.
- Alumni include the jurist John Bradshaw, who presided over the Court that tried Charles I and ordered his execution, and Ian Curtis of Joy Division.
