About the school

  • Students at The Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s — part of Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate, a group of four independent schools in North Yorkshire — can choose between two schools in Year 10, each providing unique tailored academic pathways that align with the child’s learning style. The Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s sister school, Queen Ethelburga’s College, is also on our list.
  • Faculty staff are dedicated to getting to know each student, making sure they can provide the best possible support to help them to achieve their personal goals.
  • The Faculty offers GCSEs, A-levels and a range of Btecs. Mentoring is available to improve revision skills, organisation, time management and motivation.
  • Sport is an important part of life at the Faculty, with a dedicated Performance Sports Programme for student athletes, including a unique “personalised learning syllabus” designed to “maximise sporting and physical development” under the guidance of the school’s specialist coaching staff. It also offers a fantastic set of sporting facilities: a 25-metre pool, triple-court sports hall, gym and specialist dance facilities, boxing, table tennis, fencing and an esports gaming classroom.
  • Students have access to a wide range of “super-curricular” activities, which are timetabled into the KS4 and KS5 school week. In addition, the Faculty hosts regular guest speakers, alongside a comprehensive range of after-school clubs including chess, debating and the Student Investor Challenge.
