Verdict *
Outstanding
“The head teacher has high expectations and aspirations for the academy. Through his dedication and drive he has inspired outstanding leadership at all levels … Teachers have high expectations of all students, regardless of their ability. They plan lessons that engage and challenge students, and use questioning to deepen understanding, so that students achieve at the highest level … Students’ behaviour is exemplary … Provision for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is exceptionally strong through a wide and varied range of subjects, many after-school clubs and educational visits, and a well-planned personal and social development programme. Students are well prepared for life in modern Britain.”

About the school

  • Pupils who are recognised as being exceptionally able in several subjects have the opportunity to be a part of the Aspire programme, which provides an opportunity to share ideas with other high-ability pupils from other classes and stretch themselves in challenging tutorials.
  • Trips for the Cotswold School’s students include work experience in Madrid, exchanges in Cadiz and Germany and visits to Barcelona, Paris, Auschwitz and First World War battlefields. Many have seized the opportunity to see orchestral, drama and music productions and to go skiing.
  • The list of extracurricular opportunities covers almost anything students might be interested in — musical groups, languages, coding, debating, interior architecture, card games, gardening, art and jewellery-making — not to mention a full range of sports and strength and conditioning.
