- Education at Tapton School is designed to be a “transformational experience” under an ethos of valuing everyone, caring for each other and achieving excellence. Expectations are high in all areas of school life.
- Located in the southwest of Sheffield, close to the Peak District National Park, the school opened in 1960 and was rebuilt in 2001 with 15 science laboratories, a music block with practice rooms, a drama studio, a gym and sports halls. A dance studio and classrooms were added in 2015.
- There are plenty of opportunities to enrich the academic experience through a range of clubs and activities, from sport and music, to debating and Stem subjects. Leadership is encouraged through the student council, prefect system and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
- Alumni include the Olympian and president of World Athletics, Lord Coe; the golfer Matt Fitzpatrick; and three of the founding members of Def Leppard — Rick Savage, Pete Willis and Tony Kenning.
