About the school

  • Sporting success has included several titles in netball and pupils have won international skiing competitions.
  • Music features prominently, with 20 weekly group rehearsals and about 40 concerts performed each year. Several pupils play in the Royal Birmingham’s Junior Conservatoire and the National Youth Concert Band.
  • There is a healthy commitment to trips, whether to the theatre, adventure camps or skiing, and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme expeditions.
  • Clubs take place during lunchtimes and after school and range from chess and board games to film, drama and dance.
  • The house system is at the core of the pastoral programme. Regular meetings review academic progress and pastoral issues, while a new wellbeing centre has opened to provide a safe space for quiet reflection.
  • The school provides scholarships and means-tested bursaries. Nearly two thirds of pupils receive some form of remission to be able to attend the school.
