About the school

  • St Michael’s School, in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, celebrated record A-level results in 2024, with 96.1 per cent of students gaining at least one A*/A grade and almost all earning a place at their chosen university, including at Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, Warwick and Imperial College London.   
  • Traditional sports are popular, but there are also clubs for chess, climbing, skiing, golf, knitting and debating, and lots of special interest groups. Boarding pupils have access to an additional programme of activities during weekends. The school plays an active part in the community and is proud to support the local food bank and charities through donations and volunteering. 
  • Pupils can also gain Lamda qualifications, compete in the UKMT Maths Challenge, take musical and theatrical grades and earn the Extended Project Qualification.
  • Qualified mental health first-aiders are on site and a counsellor and therapist visit the school one day a week. The service is also available during the school holidays.  
  • Scholarships are awarded based on an entrance test in Year 7. Bursaries are available only to existing pupils whose financial circumstances have unexpectedly changed.
