“Leaders have very high expectations of pupils. Pupils embrace these alongside the school aim of ‘academic curiosity’ ... Pupils feel safe and happy … Of particular note is the ethos created by leaders, which encourages pupils to take action on issues they care about. For example, leading campaigns in school about male mental health and violence against women ... Leaders have ensured that what pupils learn goes beyond what is expected by the national curriculum. For example, pupils in Key Stage 3 study two modern foreign languages and Latin ... Teachers use clearly thought-out strategies that are set out for each pupil. About the school

Founded in 1908 by the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus, the school has the motto Quis ut Deus (“Who is like God?”) — the literal translation of the Archangel Michael's name in Hebrew.
The school’s purple uniform is inspired by the colour of the Michaelmas daisy.
A new sports hall was opened in the school’s centenary year, 2008, and boys were admitted to the sixth form the following year.
St Michael’s is part of the worldwide network of Loreto Schools, which has more than 100 members across six continents.
Of the 2025 leavers, six students secured places at Oxford or Cambridge and 17 will study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science.
Notable alumni include the authors Lisa Jewell and Jill Paton Walsh and the actress Jessica Martin.
