What the school inspection says
“In the period since the last inspection, the very high standards attained by the pupils have been sustained at both GCSE and A level. The evidence presented during [the inspection] indicates that learning, teaching and developing learning leaders are integral to school improvement. The school’s rationale for developing further the effectiveness of learning and teaching is founded on rigorous self-evaluation. All the lessons observed… were very good. Detailed planning underpins well-structured lessons in which: the teachers review concisely the previous learning and use a wide range of resources, including ICT, to present the pupils with fresh challenges; the pupils work well independently or, when appropriate, collaborate effectively with their peers; and, by applying their knowledge in a variety of tasks, the pupils demonstrate their understanding of new concepts.”
*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.
