About the school

  • A sixth-form centre extension includes two science laboratories. There are annual events including a Culture Day that features stalls from around the world. 
  • All pupils are encouraged to take part in musical activities that include choirs, orchestras, ensemble and big bands. The majority of pupils taking music lessons achieve distinctions.
  • Sporting provision includes all the traditional sports and others such as table tennis, basketball, gymnastics, netball, golf, badminton and cycling. There are numerous clubs and societies including public speaking, debating, philosophy, engineering, chess and photography, as well as many musical options, and even a ukulele group. 
  • There is a dedicated wellbeing and safeguarding team, and a health and wellbeing officer co-ordinates school counselling sessions for pupils and runs informal “chill and chat” discussion groups. 
  • There are a small number of academic scholarships and some music scholarships for choral and orchestral participation.
