- This Catholic coeducational school in Ealing, west London, founded in 1902 by monks from Downside Abbey as Ealing Priory School, offers a “well-rounded, seamless” education from nursery to sixth form. Its name was changed to St Benedict’s in 1948 and it became fully coeducational in 2008.
- Following a holistic approach set out in the 1,500-year-old Rule of St Benedict, pupils aged 3-18 are encouraged to develop principled leadership, resilience and character framed by the Christian values of integrity, fairness and generosity.
- Sport is a key part of school life at St Benedict’s, with many of its boys and girls competing at county and national level. Music and drama are another distinguished tradition, and pupils take part in regular concerts and termly drama productions.
- Alumni include the writer Peter Ackroyd, Lord (Chris) Patten, the last British governor of Hong Kong, and the comedian Julian Clary.
