“This is a good school. Safeguarding is well led. The school has acted to secure the school site. The arrangements to ensure pupils’ safety and welfare are effective. The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils, particularly pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (Send). Pupils value this change. Many feel privileged to attend Carre’s Grammar School. Staff set high expectations of pupils. Pupils’ behaviour is often exemplary. In lessons, there is a positive climate of debate and discussion that enriches the learning. Pupils are respectful, articulate and polite … The school offers an extensive wider-development programme. The extracurricular offer is rich and diverse. Many pupils achieve sporting excellence.”

About the school

This heavily oversubscribed Catholic girls’ school in Forest Gate, east London, seeks to “meet the needs of the whole person and to enable all to achieve their full potential”.
Its Routes to Success programme provides customised enrichment activities to prepare for higher education or apprenticeships.
Degree subject talks, employer mentoring and work experience help sixth-formers to plan their future and high achievers go on to Oxford and Cambridge and gain places in competitive courses including medicine and dentistry.
A wealth of extracurricular opportunities includes after-school clubs and workshops in dance, PE, drama, music, art, creative writing, science, and maths.
Alumni include the Bafta-winning actress Margaret Tyzack and Vanessa White of The Saturdays.
