- Thomas Rich’s house, the first home of the school, was on Eastgate Street in Gloucester. Today, the school houses are called Northgate, Southgate, Eastgate, Westgate and Newgate.
- Until 1882, the school was known as the Blue Coat Hospital. It moved to its current site outside the city centre in 1964.
- A new economics, entrepreneurship, careers and outreach centre was built in 2020.
- International rugby players Sam Underhill (England) and Ian Smith (Scotland) are among the school’s former pupils.
