“This school has a strong ethos of ‘achievement for all’. Pupils study a curriculum that is fully inclusive and prepares them for their future well. Pupils can choose to study a wide range of courses that meet their needs. Most pupils make progress with their learning. However, some pupils do not attend regularly enough. This limits the progress they make … Pupils receive a comprehensive programme of personal development. They learn how to keep themselves safe and how to keep mentally and physically healthy. They are taught about current news affairs and develop a well-rounded view of the world. The school is continuing to develop the careers education and guidance that pupils receive.”

About the school

Sherburn High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire.
The school serves about 800 students aged 11-18, offering a broad academic curriculum and a strong extracurricular programme.
At its 2023 Ofsted inspection Sherburn High School was judged “good”, with inspectors noting its positive learning environment and supportive staff.
It is part of the Star Multi Academy Trust, a collaborative group of North Yorkshire schools committed to high standards and community involvement.
In 2021 the school opened a new purpose-built gym hall to replace the previous building, which had been destroyed by fire in 2018.
