- The school was formed in 1991 by the merger of Sale Boys’ Grammar School and Sale Girls’ Grammar School.
- Its ethos is embodied by the six virtues of kindness, respect, community, creativity, curiosity and perseverance.
- The four houses, known as “halls”, are Carrington, Massey (both named after local landowning families), Deva (from the Latin name for Chester), and Salix (Latin for the willow trees that give Sale its name).
