- The Royal School, Armagh, founded in 1608 with a decree from James I, aims to give its boys and girls “an education which in its wholeness will enable them to achieve their full potential”.
- Boarding is offered from the age of eight and the school works to provide a home from home for its residential pupils. Most boarders are full boarders but others who live closer to Armagh are offered four or five-night flexible boarding.
- Over a number of years the school has run a successful peer tutoring programme to support those in years 8 to 12 who require additional support. Year 13 pupils provide this mentoring and advice giving.
- Bursaries of up to 50 per cent of school fees are offered to those “with above average ability who without the financial assistance may be unable to attend”.
