- Founded in 1423 and the oldest school in Buckinghamshire, the Royal Latin School is a coeducational state grammar school with over 1,300 students.
- The school, whose motto is “High Expectations For All”, aims to create an environment where every student is happy and able to reach their full academic and personal potential. A large number of pupils participate in local and national competitions such as the UKMT Team Maths Challenge, the Biology, Chemistry and Physics Olympiads, bar and mock trials, and Model United Nations.
- Trips and visits are prioritised to ensure that education extends far beyond the classroom. An average of 80 trips are organised each academic year — for example, visits to the Natural History Museum, residential trips to the Isle of Wight and Caldecotte Lake, and exchanges and cultural visits to France, Spain and Germany.
- Pupils are encouraged to take on leadership roles, such as providing reading and maths support to children at a local primary school, while all Year 12 students are expected to undertake volunteering.
- There’s a broad programme of sports and extracurricular activities, with more than 30 clubs running per term, as well as a variety of house competitions, from music and drama, to dance, chess, photography and creative writing.
- Every child is introduced to mindfulness through a Year 7 elective programme and there are quiet spaces where pupils can go for a break, as well as a prayer space.
