“Pupils are proud members of the school community. They appreciate their similarities and celebrate their differences. They are proud of their achievements and aspirational for their future. All members of the school community behave in a way that upholds the values and ethos of the Rosebery Way. Pupils are happy and safe. Pupils’ conduct in classrooms and around the school is calm and orderly ... [They] welcome the opportunities offered to broaden their outlook through trips, visits, theatre and residentials … Extracurricular activities include sport, music and drama as well as a medical society, creative writing, a coding club and the extremely popular cheerleading activities.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.

About the school

The girls’ comprehensive in Epsom, Surrey, will be 100 years old in 2027 and continues to push its pupils to improve on their previous best.
Results in Stem subjects are especially strong, with 62 per cent of GCSE grades in biology, chemistry and physics graded 9 or 8 in 2024.
All sixth-formers follow a personal development programme to encourage leadership and teamwork skills. House competition extends to fundraising: students raise more than £15,000 a year for good causes.
In 2023, Rosebery had the highest number of participants in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme of any state school in the UK. There are more than 20 musical groups and sports teams compete at local, county and national level in netball, football, cricket and hockey. Gym and dance clubs are also popular, and pupils have the chance to explore throughout Britain, Europe and America on school trips.
