“Pupils are at the centre of the school’s vision. They are ‘inspired to learn’ and ‘supported to succeed’. Pupils who have special educational needs/and or disabilities (Send) access the curriculum with the appropriate support. High standards and expectations and strong relationships with teachers enable all pupils to achieve well ... Pupils are proud of their house system through which they take on ambassador roles and support younger pupils. They like the way that leaders listen to their views and enhance facilities and opportunities as a result. The diverse sporting, artistic and dramatic opportunities develop pupils’ confidence and enrich their overall learning experiences.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.

About the school

Ringwood School in Hampshire educates 1,600 boys and girls aged 11-18 and is rated good by Ofsted.
It has special provision for pupils who are identified as being “academically more able” and works hard to ensure that it meets their needs.
The Curious Minds club is designed to nurture academic curiosity and introduces pupils to subjects beyond the curriculum, including Italian, anthropology and classical civilisation.
Up to 47 extracurricular activities are offered to pupils each week. The school also participates in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, the National Citizen Service, and the Global Young Leaders Conference in New York and Washington each year.
