What the school inspection says

Rainey Endowed was assessed as very good in 2014, before the ETI ratings were changed to a four-point scale. A 2017 inspection confirmed that it “continues to demonstrate a high level of capacity for sustained improvement in the interest of all the learners … The school has a high quality, and soundly research-informed, teaching and learning policy ... The whole-school culture of continuous improvement supports the young people well in developing the dispositions and behaviour to become successful, resilient life-long learners.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.

About the school

A partnership with the Northern Irish charity Abaana was established in 2018 to help to alleviate poverty in Africa through education.
The Rainey also offers a wide range of extracurricular clubs, from agriculture to Minecraft, while further qualifications include BTecs.
Senior pupils run a wellbeing programme. Its Recharge Club is based on the aims of the Take 5 initiative: learning, being active, giving, taking notice and connecting.
