“Pupils get on with each other. They respect and value the inclusive ethos of the school. They said there is a ‘friendly environment’ and that they are happy here. Pupils are confident that bullying is dealt with quickly. Anti-bullying ambassadors are on hand to support pupils to resolve issues or concerns. Their yellow lanyards make it easy for pupils to spot them … A range of extra opportunities are available for pupils to take part in. These include sport, music, contemporary dance, origami, problem solving and the LGBTQ+ society. The school is proud of its sporting successes … The number of pupils who study subjects as part of the English Baccalaureate is increasing. This is because more pupils are choosing to study languages.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.

About the school

The 2025 Ofsted report concluded that “the school has high expectations for all” and praised its “broad and high-quality curriculum, including in the sixth form”.
Sixth-formers can choose from 27 subjects at A-level and BTec, including criminology, philosophy and further mathematics. Pupils can also study for the Extended Project Qualification.
The compulsory year 12 enrichment programme includes volunteering and sports leadership opportunities, time devoted to working on the school magazine, and to hands-on sessions in AI, 3D printing and design. In 2025, 23 per cent of A-level grades achieved were awarded A*-A and 55 per cent at A*-B.
