- An integral part of the market town of Otley, Prince Henry's lends its support to the community through a number of initiatives, with many sixth formers undertaking community service. Prince Henry’s also takes part in the Otley Carnival each year.
- The school runs its own independent Community Education Programme for the benefit of local people. Each year the programme attracts more than 600 learners of all ages to more than 50 evening courses, from African drumming to fly tying and lino cut printing. It also claims to have the widest range of language courses of any school in West Yorkshire.
- Rugby and netball are important sports here, with Leeds United Football Development, Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds Rhinos Netball joining forces to run new development sessions at the school.
- Consistently strong academically, the school requires Year 8 students to take up German as a second modern foreign language and follow a taster course in Mandarin.
- There is a focus on preparing students for the jobs market, recognising that some will embark on careers that do not yet exist. The school works closely with the Careers and Enterprise Company to provide a wide range of workplace experiences.
- The school’s Chippindale pool, named after the former pupil and cabinet maker Thomas Chippindale, is open as a community pool, which also provides floating soundbaths.
- The school has regularly been named Leeds Secondary School of the Year in the Modeshift Stars travel awards, which recognises the work done to encourage students, staff, and parents and carers to walk to school, where possible, and to reduce car use.
