“Most pupils enjoy learning. They aspire to do well. As one pupil commented, echoed by many others, teachers inspire him to ‘go above and beyond’. Pupils have many opportunities to broaden their knowledge about the world around them. For example, pupils visit the theatre to see plays, such as An Inspector Calls. Pupils take part in a range of sports and art clubs … Leaders and staff have worked to develop a well-structured curriculum.”

About the school

This large mixed academy is in a leafy suburb of Plymouth near to sandy beaches and Dartmoor National Park.
Reading is an important part of school life and embedded in a student’s daily routine. New pupils receive rewards for the number of books they read, and year 8s become reading buddies to year 7 starters.
The school has impressive sports facilities, including a full-size 3G artificial pitch, a 2G AstroTurf pitch for football and hockey, and a large fitness suite. Its Community Sports Centre is open to residents outside of school hours.
