- The college was formed in 1985 by the amalgamation of the Sacred Heart of Mary Grammar School in Holywood and St Patrick’s College, Knock, and sits on a 20-acre site in the Cherryvalley district of Belfast.
- In 2012, with pupil numbers having risen to more than 1,200, teaching moved into a new £25 million building.
- The college motto is Gratias agamus (“Let us give thanks”).
- The poet Medbh McGuckian and Father David Delargy, of the classical music trio The Priests, are former teachers.
