What the school inspection says

The ETI carried out a monitoring inspection in 2017 which was affected by industrial action by staff. It stated: “Literacy features prominently as a key priority. Areas such as pupils’ written presentational skills and oral communication skills have been targeted appropriately by the majority of departments. The college has built on its tradition of liaising with a number of primary schools with a view to improving transition arrangements for the pupils entering Year 8. The pupils report that they feel safe in school and know what to do if they are concerned about their safety or wellbeing.”

*Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgment in inspections of state-funded schools. A five-point grading scale, including a new “exceptional” grade was introduced in November 2025.
