About the school

  • Oundle’s 820 boarders outnumber their day pupil peers by nearly three to one, making it one of the largest boarding schools in the country.
  • Its “full modern boarding ethos” provides a seven-days-a-week canvas on which to paint pupils’ education, Oundle’s head, Sarah Kerr-Dineen, explains. Day pupils similarly benefit from the breadth of opportunities beyond a normal school day.
  • This high-performing co-ed school has a 60:40 ratio of boys to girls, and about one in five pupils come from overseas, representing 35 different countries.
  • The school’s buildings date from the 17th to 21st centuries and are scattered around the historic Northamptonshire market town. Pupils pass through its streets on their way to lessons.
  • Beyond academic achievement, Oundle teaches such values as aspiration, authentic self-belief and sense of service.
