- Orleans Council School opened in 1910 and changed its name to Orleans Park in 1973, when it moved to its present location in four acres of the former Orleans House estate.
- That house was named for Louis-Phillippe, Duke of Orléans, the penultimate monarch of France, who lived there in exile during the first half of the 19th century.
- There are four school houses, named Kew, Hampton, Richmond and York.
- The sixth-form centre was named after and opened by the long-time local David Attenborough in 2015. His brother, Richard, had opened a previous extension in 1993.
- Alumni include the actors Joe Anderson and Rufus Sewell, and the rugby player Heather Cowell.
