“Northampton High School embraces the vision, value and principles of the GDST and seeks to foster the attributes required for success by creating a stimulating, caring, happy school where pupils realise their academic, creative, and athletic potential. Pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding are mostly good. Pupils display good study skills. They enjoy learning and are motivated to find out more. They work extremely well collaboratively and individually. Pupils’ academic and other successes are excellent. Pupils of all ages and abilities generally display excellent attitudes to their learning. They demonstrate a high level of self-understanding, self-confidence, self-discipline and resilience. Pupils show a strong understanding of the importance of making good decisions and are generally confident in their ability to do so.” There was a routine inspection in 2024.

About the school

  • This independent day school for girls is steeped in almost 150 years of history, but is housed in a modern, purpose-built building on a 27-acre campus.
  • The school aims to instil a philosophy of being “10 per cent braver in all endeavours” to ensure girls become fearless learners and “emerge as a leader of tomorrow”.
  • The school operates a dedicated local and regional transport programme for pupils, serving 170 stops. It also includes a late service Monday to Thursday to ensure a safe return journey for students attending after-school clubs and activities.
  • The strong House peer system allows older girls to mentor younger pupils as they find their feet.
