Academic outcomes in the senior school are excellent, across the full range of ability ... Pupils demonstrate excellent communication skills ... [and] exhibit notably strong study skills. Their ability to analyse, hypothesise, synthesise and draw upon a suitably wide range of sources is excellent ... Pupils demonstrate exemplary attitudes towards learning. They display initiative, show independence and a willingness to work collaboratively and take leadership in their learning ... About the school

  • The non-selective girls’ day and boarding school Moreton Hall, which celebrated its centenary in 2013, describes itself as “aspirational, joyous and nurturing”. Alumnae of the North Shropshire school include Zanny Minton Beddoes, editor of the Economist. 
  • In 2023, 75 per cent of leavers headed to their first-choice university. The senior lacrosse team are known as “the Queens of the North” and were crowned national champions in 2024. 
  • Activities and societies on offer range from ecology club and rock climbing to Model UN, a dissection club, and a food and wine appreciation group, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. 
  • Each pupil is assigned to a tutor who meets with them at least twice a week, individually and in small groups, to monitor progress and set targets. Parents are encouraged to contact members of staff with any concerns, no matter how small.
  • Scholarships worth up to 20 per cent of fees are available for excellence in academia, sport, music, drama and art.
