- Only a short Tube ride from central London, Mill Hill School has more than 150 acres of grounds on its green campus in north London. Founded in 1807, it is now the flagship institution of the Mill Hill Education Group, a not-for-profit group of independent schools with the motto Et virtutem, et musas (“Instilling values, inspiring minds”).
- The idea behind its founding was to create “London in the countryside” and today the school’s 900 boys and girls – 100 of them full or weekly boarders – have the space to learn with sophisticated academic and sports facilities which include a full gym and swimming pool.
- The house system creates small communities of about 80 pupils and there are plenty of opportunities for young people to shine in leadership roles.
- Mill Hill School is for pupils aged 13-18, giving it a “high school” feel. Younger year groups start at Grimsdell pre-prep and Belmont prep schools, served by the Mill Hill Express bus.
- Former pupils include the fashion designer Sir Norman Hartnell and the broadcaster Richard Dimbleby.
