- Britain’s oldest Steiner school – and the longest-running in the world – celebrated its centenary in 2025. Founded in south London, it moved to Forest Row, East Sussex, after the Second World War, where it has more than 100 acres of listed landscaped parkland on the edge of Ashdown Forest.
- As a Waldorf school in the Steiner tradition, Michael Hall is non-selective and dedicated to a holistic education for children aged 2-18 which nurtures body, soul and spirit. The broad curriculum gives equal weight to artistic and academic subjects.
- Pupils are encouraged to find their balance in nature, roaming or working on projects on the school estate. A fee assistance programme is in place and the school offers a sibling fee reduction.
- Former pupils include the make-up entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury and the fashion designer Bella Freud.
