- By the time Maidstone Grammar was granted its royal charter in 1549, it had already occupied two earlier sites for some 200 years — laying claim to being one of the oldest schools in the world. Its motto, Olim Meminisse Juvabit (A joy it will be to remember) has stood the test of time along with a commitment to balancing tradition and innovation.
- Strong academic results (60 per cent of A-levels graded A*-B in 2024) are combined with a wealth of activities under four themes: creativity, activity, service and extended learning. There are more than 50 lunchtime and after-school clubs from art to sports, debating and Amnesty Youth Group. The school’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is one of the oldest in the country with army, navy, and RAF sections.
- Musicians and budding actors have at least one big live performance each term. Instrumental lessons are available during the school day for all students.
- Enrichment Learning Week is an annual feature for Years 7-9, aimed at extending their cultural and social experiences. About 30 activities and trips in the UK and abroad are offered to pupils.
