About the school

  • The all-boys Loughborough Grammar School was founded 530 years ago but is forward-looking, offering programmes such as the Great Men initiative, which supports pupils on their journeys to knowing themselves.
  • Six students earned a place at Oxbridge in 2023, and alumni include the Times Radio presenter Stig Abell and Peter Preston, the former editor of the Guardian.
  • Proximity to Loughborough University, where sports science is a strength, helps to facilitate sporting success, while the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award department is one of the biggest in the country. Clubs are numerous and boys can suggest new additions, the latest being a mahjong group. A recent student takeover day featured a poetry flashmob and Bollywood dancing.
  • British Sign Language certificates are offered alongside standard qualifications, while sixth-formers are given a bespoke professional development programme.
  • Scholarships are available.
