- King’s Bruton is a co-ed day and boarding school in Somerset. It has about 350 pupils.
- The £2.45 million Queen Elizabeth Music School was completed in 2018 in celebration of the school’s quincentenary. Queen Elizabeth II opened the building the following year. It has a teaching and rehearsal space, a recital hall and a recording suite. More than 40 public performances take place each year.
- Almost all – 98 per cent – of its pupils secure places at their first-choice university, including Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions.
- The headteacher, Ian Wilmshurst, sums up the school’s approach: “Your son and daughter will not be allowed to drift, to hide or to get lost at King’s.”
- Notable alumni include the Times Literary Supplement writer John Sturrock and the comedian and TV presenter Marcus Brigstocke.
