- King Edward VI School has a distinguished history going back more than 470 years. Today the coeducational day school aims to develop pupils with a broad range of skills and interests.
- As well as the 13-acre main site, where a new library and theatre are among the facilities, the Wellington Sports Ground has 33 acres with tennis and netball courts and a water-based astro pitch. The school also has a rural studies centre on Dartmoor.
- Sixth-formers are guided in small tutor groups and can challenge themselves on expeditions to the Himalayas, Cambodia and Thailand, Belize and Alaska. A long-running summer camp helps disadvantaged young people near Cape Town in South Africa.
- Neal Parker, the head teacher, describes how the school community is one “which places every child at the heart of all that we do”.
- Means-tested bursaries are available, with a maximum value of 100 per cent of school fees, as are academic and creative arts scholarships.
