About the school

  • Our pillars are love of learning, pride in diversity and excellence for all.
  • It is compulsory for sixth-form pupils to take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) alongside A-levels. The weekly enrichment programme aims to enhance students’ learning in preparation for further education. Work experience, attending a university masterclass or volunteering are some examples that are considered to meet the criteria.
  • The school is known for its strong musical offering, with choirs, orchestras and instrument instruction.
  • The Beacon is a magazine produced every year by Year 12 students. It has been published almost since the school was founded in 1911 and is part of a proud tradition.
  • Notable alumni include the actress Felicity Jones and the Labour MP Zarah Sultana.
