About the school

  • The school has an unwavering commitment to reading for pleasure, and the broader development of literacy.
  • At the Ibstock Festival, pupils extend their learning outside of the classroom with a choice of more than 25 different activities, including life drawing, car maintenance, pottery and sausage making. The event encapsulates the school’s commitment to a holistic view of education.
  • The school offers more than 100 clubs and societies, including rugby, ultimate frisbee, climbing (on the new climbing wall), chess, debating, a feminist society, book clubs, journalism, robotics and Lego. Musical students can enjoy choirs, orchestras and an a capella group.
  • Pupils are supported by an integrated network of teachers, heads of house, professional on-site counsellors, school nurse and senior pastoral team. A focused approach on the individual develops resilience, enabling pupils to cope with setbacks, gain perspective and have the confidence to flourish. 
  • A scholarship scheme awards pupils at 11+, 13+ and 16+ who have made an outstanding positive contribution to community engagement, charitable activities or activism. The fee remittance for those who successfully apply is 10 per cent.
