“The school seeks to provide a broad intellectual education complemented by many opportunities to develop human qualities through service and cocurricular activities in a framework of high quality, responsive pastoral care ... The extremely high level of attainment is a consequence of the pupils’ excellent attitudes to learning and a respect … for teaching that shows a high level of subject knowledge ... Pupils have a clear awareness of their individuality and their place in the school and wider community of north London … Pupils respect and value diversity within society, show respect for and appreciation of their own and other cultures … This respect is a major strength of the school.” There was a routine inspection in 2024.

About the school

  • A range of committees allows pupils to raise their voices on critical issues relating to the future of the planet, mental health, equality and inclusion, and how the school might run better.
  • The pupil-led Fast Fashion-Free February campaign has been rolled out to other schools and Highgate Her Way supports girls to navigate puberty with confidence and build a lifelong love of exercise.
  • Pupil-initiated clubs include Dungeons & Dragons, sign language and anime. Sporting options include basketball, fives, yoga and street and commercial dance. Creative outlets range from Chinese singing to photography and there are several social justice and inclusion societies.
  • Pride Society offers pupils a safe space and platform to represent the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of their sexual orientation.
  • In the Year 12 podcast, pupils explore topics that matter to them and to share with younger pupils.
