About the school

  • WiSE@HLC is an innovative women in science and engineering programme designed to encourage pupils to consider Stem-related careers.
  • The recently refurbished performing arts centre, the Swinton Theatre, was funded by its alumni community and parents of current pupils.
  • There are more than 50 clubs and societies covering everything from sport, performing arts and creative writing to business and languages. In 2023, the school launched its own dance company, and this year added football to its core sports programme.
  • The Flourish programme encompasses wellness, safeguarding, learning support and PSHE in a joined-up programme. Each week a pastoral team meets to discuss the wellbeing of every child in the school. There is also a dedicated wellness centre as well as wellness ambassadors for pupils and staff.
  • Each year the school awards a small number of means-tested bursaries of up to 100 per cent of fees. Scholarships for pupils who demonstrate exceptional talent or potential in a particular field are also available.
